What's this?
Pixie managing two blogs in one month??
Why yes! fufufufu
I actually did something worth writing about!
So if you didn't know,
my absolute favourite band is Ghost.
And until Saturday, I had never seen them live! I'm still a bit gutted that I never got to see Papa III or Papa IV live
But their world tour Skeletour is under way!
And the O2 in London was day... 3? On the list.
I was seated, and I actually partly dreaded it.
Usually I'm down in the pit, and I expected seating to feel like they were tiny fleas at a flea circus and I'd be so far away that I'd not be able to make much out and would be relying on the screens.
Although, being 5'2'', usually even in the pit, if I'm not right near the front I usually end up unable to see anything
To the point that I'm usually watching the stage through someone's phone.
And this tour has banned phones (which I have mixed feelings on), so... rip short people further back in the pit I suppose.
**Disclaimer and quick elaboration on my feelings regarding the phone ban:
I totally get why Tobias wanting it, and full on respect that.
But not being able to contact friends that attended to find them and meet up once in there was a little disappointing,
and not being able to check the time
(we were in our seats about an hour before it started (we didn't actually realise that at the time) and needed the toilet a couple of times, but I was too scared of missing the start to get up and go xD)
(Obviously there are ways around all these issues, but I think we get so used to the convenience of phones that we feel a bit caught short without them)
But whenever i'm at a concert, I like to get at least one picture just to remember being there.
(Like.. I know I was there, obviously, but already I'd love to look at a picture from where I was and just remind myself)
But we were actually so damn lucky with our seats.
Like.. looking at the seats online, I thought we were going to have a crap view, even though they were objectively good seats, as seats go.
But the view was perfect.
We were on a row right at the front, the only people infront of us were the wheelchair users (and they were a step lower down than us).
The pit was on a lower level still, so even with all those people standing, they didn't remotely obscure our view of the stage (even when they were jumping around and waving their hands in the air).
We were eye level with the band, and immersion wasn't ruined at all - I actually realised that I preferred our seats to being in the pit.
Even if I'd been right at the very front in the pit, I would have missed things.
But it was amazing and I kind of wish I had a picture to show people how good our view was.
Especially as my tickets were a joint Christmas and Birthday gift from my mum, it would have been nice to show her how worth while the price was!
But yeah, other than that, I can definitely appreciate the decision to not have phones out.
Regarding seating in general: If we had been sat anywhere else, I probably would have wished I was in the pit.
A friend that went had seating and was further away from the stage, and said that to her unfortunately she was watching a flea circus (an amazingly talented flea circus, but still, they were tiny specs for her). I just don't want my gushing over our seats to make anyone think all seating will be equal, we were so so damn lucky to be sat where we were
Apparently one of the Ghouls (Sodo) injured himself during the performance
and considering I was gawking at the stage the entire time with a huge grin on my face with no one and nothing blocking my view, I'm both a bit surprised and embarassed that I had no idea at all.
Although I think most had no idea at all - I didn't see anyone discussing it until after the next evenings concert (Birmingham, I think?), where Papa told them that Sodo had got two leg fractures from the night before!
He carried on performing despite a leg injury though, what a tank!
But yeah.
I don't want to spoil too much of the show itself (or the two new songs we heard that haven't been released yet - one I think is getting released later this evening?)
But oh my gosh it was so good.
And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't considering trying to get more tickets for other venues last minute to chase them around on this tour xD
We were also lucky enough to get mummy dust!
Which I definitely did not expect, being seated.
So now I'm thinking I need to try and get a poster to frame and putting the mummy dust and our tickets in with it!
So yeeee.
